Job Description: The HSE Sr Supervisor is responsible for developing and managing Human and Environmental Sustainability by creating a safe work environment. Will also lead the ReCon (Resource Conservation) Program, in order to reduce our operational environmental impact.
This position represents a role model for the organization, by establishing and sustaining solid relationships with employees at all levels built on trust and mutual respect by providing support in all aspects of occupational health, safety and environmental issues.
The position requires to ensure HSE compliance with local and corporate policies and standards, follow-up all incident / accident investigations.
To make the job even more interesting and challenging, it has to develop, implement and execute training programs for safety and environmental to ensure compliance with all company and governmental requirements; maintain supporting documentation, gather and report data on safety and environmental performance, compliance, expenses and incidents; keep site managers apprised of status, trends and progress compared to goals. It also carries the responsibility for KPIs follow-up; lead and participate in activities that promote employee ownership in the safety & environmental programs (safety committees, ergonomic committees, accident investigation committees, etc.); manage safety incentive programs.
The position will act as a central point of contact in managing external parties. This will include the performance management of risk, compliance and the achievement of health, safety & environmental standards.
Reports directly to the Plant Manager.
Experience and competencies required:
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, health and/or environmental management or related engineering/scientific field. Masters preferred.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the safety & environmental field with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
• OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 experience or knowledge is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, contractor’s, state & city regulators and insurance carriers.
• Strong interpersonal, decision-making and influence skills a must.
• Excellent verbal / written communication skills and strong organization skills (Spanish and English).
• Must be self-motivated with ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
