French Translator and Content Reviewer

About The Position
eTeacher Group is an ed-tech company specializing in remote learning with over 120,000 graduates worldwide. Teaching various subjects such as: English, coding, ancient and modern languages (Biblical Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic), the company maintains 5 websites and operates 5 brands. Providing courses in 9 languages requires high standards of translation and localization which is why we are looking for a professional translator and content reviewer with knowledge of copy-writing, and digital marketing to help us perfect our messaging to various audiences across multiple channels.

We are looking for a part-time (40 monthly hours) French translator to review written, video and audio pieces in different languages, making sure to maintain their original meaning, format and tone.

The translator’s responsibilities include reading and thoroughly understanding the context of given material, using specialized dictionaries and translation tools and proofreading finished pieces of work. To be successful in this role, you should have a keen eye for detail and be fluent in English in addition to your native language - French.

Ultimately, you will provide ready-to-use translated content that meets our brands’ needs and helps us reach a broader audience.

This role is remote and therefore flexible, for applicants from: Asia, Europe, America, the Middle East and Africa.

Responsibilities include:

Read given material and research industry-specific terminology
Convert text, video and audio recordings from English to French
Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone
Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation
Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy
Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs
Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure)
Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices


Requirements
Proven work experience as a translator, interpreter or similar role
Fluency in English in addition to your native language – French
Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
Good knowledge of content editing tools
Good copy-writing skills
Time-management skills
BSc in Translation, Interpreting or similar field – an advantage
Additional certification in Linguistics – a plus
Fluency in additional languages – a plus
